Биография

Grateful Dead сначала назывались «The Warlocks». Записали демо в 1965 году, ставшее позже доступным как бутлег. В начале своей карьеры они были связаны с коммуной хиппи Кена Кизи «Merry Pranksters», и на их раннее звучание оказали влияние проводимые там хэппенинги — т. н. «кислотные тесты», сопровождаемые употреблением ЛСД. С 1965 года за Grateful Dead закрепилась репутация «волшебной» концертной группы. В это время Джерри Гарсия параллельно участвовал в студийных записях таких коллективов, как Jefferson Airplane, The New Riders of the Purple Sage и Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
